Meet Emily Hererra. Our beautifully vivacious 17-year-old daughter who is currently a junior at Doral Academy, in Miami, FL where she takes AP classes and is in the theater magnet program. Like most kids her age Emily is trying to decide what “she wants to be when she grows up” and at the moment goes back and forth between studying business or psychology after graduation. Unfortunately, there is something that keeps Emily from making plans “like most kids”. You see, Emily needs a kidney…now.
She was diagnosed when she was 15 with renal failure (due to a mitochondrial mutation called Kearns Sears) that has not been proven because her genetics testing came back negative. Regardless, she is in renal failure and desperately needs your help to find a kidney. Currently she has to go to dialysis three times a week and has been in and out of the hospital due to other complications that can all be avoided once she gets her healthy kidney.
Emily loves traveling. She is definitely a Dream Big and Achieve Big kind of girl. One of her ultimate dreams include visiting Paris, France one day. In the meantime, she will get to travel to New York City with her family this month thanks to the amazing organization Make A Wish Foundation. Her favorite pastimes include spending time with her family. They are amazingly close, playing board games, shopping, surfing social media…typical teenager stuff.
If you, or someone you know would be interested in finding out whether you are a candidate here is some information about her vitals.
No parent or child should have to go through this type of torture. We know that God has a donor for Emily out there somewhere. All we have to do is pray, and actively share the request and in God’s time we will find Emily’s Kidney.
We know that not everyone is called to be a donor, and that's okay, but please share this on your social media to spread the word. Thank you and God Bless!
